About
Mátyás Holló was born in 2002 in Budapest into a family of musicians. In 2009, he began his musical training at the László Németh Music School in Göd, where he studied solo percussion and chamber music with Tivadar Stefán. In 2015, he continued his education at the László Németh Secondary School in Budapest and, in 2017, was admitted to the Béla Bartók Conservatory. At the Conservatory, he studied under his father, Aurél Holló, and gained valuable experience in a wide range of musical styles.
From 2021 to 2024, Mátyás completed his Bachelor of Music studies at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), working with Klaus Schwärzler, Raphael Christen, and Benjamin Forster. Since September 2025, he has been pursuing a Master’s degree in Specialized Music Performance – Orchestra, also at ZHdK.
He is a prize-winner of numerous national and international solo and chamber music competitions. He has played several concerts with the Amadinda Percussion Group and has participated in music festivals, like the Pacific Music Festival 2022, the PAAX GNP Music Festival 2024, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival 2025. During the 2024/2025 season, he was an academist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.
Mátyás regularly performs with various ensembles such as the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Philharmonic, and the City Lights Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he serves as an extra player with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, and the Hungarian State Opera.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, listening to music, playing football, reading, and hiking.
